Some trees lose their leaves during fall and some in our area don’t. This post oak does lose its leaves in autumn, but the brown leaves are a sign it is dying, unfortunately. Right now we are seeing a lot of trees that are not making it after the drought.
One way you can tell if your tree is dead or just losing leaves for winter is to scrape the bark with a small knife. If you see green, it is still alive and going to make it longer, if it’s brown, chances are it is not. If you have questions about your trees’ health, give us a shout.
